Did you know that 2015 is going to be Everwood’s 5th summer?! What a milestone! The years have flown by so fast for us, and every year we look to build and improve on the year before. We have been busy this winter, planning so many great new things for the upcoming Camp season, and we have some pretty A-W-E-S-O-M-E new elective activities that we can’t wait any longer to share with you!
Without further ado… some of Everwood’s new activities/ electives for 2015 include:
Wheel World- Wheel World is Everwood’s first “learn-to-ride” and recreational scooter program! We are preparing our new fleet of non-motorized balance bikes, scooters (and more) to be ready for our Campers entering pre-K through grade 4 this summer! Could there be a better way to develop independence and self-confidence than learning to ride a bike or scooter at Camp with counselors and friends who will provide encouragement and support?
Woodworking– We are expanding our creative arts program for our upper campers (entering 3rd grade and above) to include wood-working! Campers will learn to safely use hand tools to build truly amazing projects that they can take home at the end of the elective week. Campers will be guided step by step through the building process and get to customize their projects with their own paint job! A great medium for fostering creativity!
Lacrosse– This summer we are excited to be adding Lacrosse, one of the fastest growing sports in the country, to our wide range of Camp activities! Our Everwood campers will learn ball skills, improve their mental acuity, fitness, and communication and coordination in this dynamic team sport. They will be taught the essential stick skills that young players need to learn: scooping, catching, throwing and shooting, through fun drills and exciting small sided games. Our campers will also learn the fundamentals of positional play and transitions from defense, to midfield, to attack.
Stand-Up Paddle-Boarding– Available to our entering 5th graders and older, this new water sport will certainly be a hit on our beautiful Lake Massapoag this summer. Stand-up Paddle Boarding, or SUP, is a hybrid of Surfing and Kayaking, which involves standing on an oversized surf board and paddling with a single bladed paddle. We can’t wait to cruise our waterfronts on these awesome boards!
Sport Stacking (also known as cup stacking or speed stacking) is an individual and team sport that involves stacking specialized plastic cups in specific sequences in as little time as possible. It is an amazing sport of fitness, agility, concentration and quickness!
With so many new activities for this summer, our 5th season is going to be the best yet. Stay tuned for more new activities to come as the summer gets closer! 🙂
We can’t wait until June 22nd! See you soon!
