Lower Campus Summary

Everwood's Lower Campus serves campers entering Pre-K through 2nd grade (the Turtles and Freshman divisions) in groups of about 15 campers with 3 dedicated counselors trained in early childhood development. The daily schedule includes age-appropriate sports, creative and performing arts, daily American Red Cross instructional swim, free swim, adventure and nature activities, and a rest/story-time period for the youngest campers after lunch.
A Day in the Life at Everwood Lower Camp
Pre-K- 2nd Grade
Our lower camp groups typically consist of approximately 15 campers with 3 counselors that are dedicated to the group all day and all summer long. Groups are mixed-gender or gender specific based on parent preference, and based on the grade children are entering in September.
Counselors that work with this age group all have a specific interest in working with young children and are trained and closely supported by certified by early childhood educators and experienced teachers.
Our lower campers at Everwood experience a wide range of activities that have been adapted to ensure they are age-appropriate. Programs are led by specialists with specific experience in the area of instruction and support by our general counselors. This includes activities such as fishing, kayaking, sports, ropes course, nature and science, Dance, yoga, arts and crafts and so much more.

Morning Assembly
Every great camp day starts with a little morning magic! As campers arrive, they’re greeted by our staff and head to their group’s meeting spot to kick off the day with their camp crew. From exciting announcements and favorite camp traditions to raising the flag, our Division Program Specialists bring the energy and get everyone ready for an awesome day ahead. Then, it’s off to the cabins to drop bags before heading out to the first activity of the day. Let the fun begin!

Get ready to run, kick, shoot, and score! From soccer and basketball to street hockey and everything in between, our Lower Camp sports periods are packed with opportunities to try new skills, build confidence, and have a blast. Our experienced coaches and specialists bring the fun with age-appropriate equipment, engaging instruction, and support from camp counselors to make sure every camper feels included and ready to play!

Free Play at Everwood Day Camp gives campers the opportunity to explore, create, and have fun in a relaxed, camper-driven environment! Campers can choose from a variety of activities, spend time with friends, and follow their own interests while building independence and creativity. With counselors providing supervision and support, Free Play encourages friendships, imagination, and memorable camp moments!

Swim Lessons
Swim Lessons
All of our lower campers get to participate in an American Red Cross based swim lesson daily in our shallow water teaching pools. All campers are tested and placed in an appropriate swim group based on their skill level. Our lessons are taught by certified lifeguards and supported by our camp counselors, ensuring growth and development in swim skills. Learn More about Swim

Free Swim
Free Swim
All of our lower campers have a period each day where they can choose if they want to swim in the lake or play on the beach with friends, or both! It’s a great open free play time! Our lifeguards closely supervise swim areas while our camp counselors play with our campers in the water ensuring low adult to camper ratios and close monitoring of all swimmers. Campers will stay in shallow water, unless they have demonstrated a specific set of skills proving they can swim in deeper swim areas (American Red Cross Level 3).
In addition, our lower campers get to jump and bounce on our inflatable water obstacle course known as “The Wibit” each week.

Wind Down
Afternoon Assembly
Lower Campers gather with their group at the end of each day for some reflection and fun camp traditions including performances, singing camp songs, and playing games. Counselors spend time talking with the group about their social and emotional accomplishments related to our Everwood 5 Star Points. A few campers in each group are given our “5 Star Camper award” and a coveted “Warm and Fuzzy” to take home. Bus transportaiton
