Skills and Service Periods

Skills and Service periods include professional development sessions, job-readiness workshops, and community service projects!

These sessions are educational exercises that often stray from lecture-based instruction and more often take a less conventional forms of games, camp-wide scavenger hunts, relay races, and obstacle courses!

Professional Development:

  • Introduction to beginner childhood development psychology!
  • Youth behavior management strategies!
  • Forms of positive behavior reinforcement!

Job Readiness Sessions:

  • Mock interviews!
  • Resume-writing workshops!
  • Intense budget simulation games!

Community Service Projects:

  • Designing and facilitating carnival events for younger campers!
  • Discussing how to make camp more accessible for all community members!
  • Hosting free Turtle-Teen free play periods!

Through these various initiatives CITs will build up their confidence, capabilities, and boost their resumes! Alongside time in their internship groups CITs will also gain community service hours for many of these endeavors.
