Counselors in Training (CITs) have a weekly graduation ceremony marking the end of their time as a camper. We celebrate their efforts working in daily internship groups, inspiring younger campers, and contributing to service projects! Graduation ceremonies are attended by favorite staff members, members of the leadership team, as well as LITs and CITs.
Graduation ceremonies celebrate the transition out of the camper role by highlighting impactful moments at camp through speeches given by teen mentors. Each week CITs also nominate a graduating and non-graduating speaker to speak to the accomplishments of graduating CITs. Through these moments CITs are given opportunities to practice their public speaking skills while celebrating their peers!
Another aspect of the ceremony is our legacy shirt tradition, in which Counselors in Training pass their CIT shirts onto Leaders in Training they want to return as CITs. These touching moments are always accompanied with short speeches from CITs, hugs, and sometimes secret handshakes!
At the end of the ceremony Counselors in Training receive CIT Program Completion Certificates to denote their accomplishments! The celebration is closed out with sweet treats and music before transitioning into Friday Afternoon Assembly, rounded out with the GOATT award and other celebratory experiences!
